Essential NewBorn Care

An important component of RCH-II is essential newborn care. As the majority of births in India still occur at home and 2/3 of all infant deaths occur during the 1st month of life, it is essential to ensure that skilled healthcare is provided to all babies at birth. Hence, field level workers are being trained in essential newborn care ie.,resuscitation at birth for birth asphyxia and care which every newborn needs like initiation of breastfeeding within half an hour of birth, rooming in, keeping the baby warm, no bathing at birth and immunisation. Under RCH II, home-based neonatal care is to be provided alongwith post-partum care through TBAs,AWWS and link workers like ASHA. These workers will pay home visits to the neonates on days 1,2,7,14 and 28. Besides these, there will be strengthening of institutions for newborn care for those needing referrals.

  3. All endoscopic processes involve some degree of sedation that relaxes you and subdues your gag reflex. First of all, although the depth of sedation, while these procedures are similar, is to general anesthesia, the airway is largely unprotected. Used as a sedative, propofol, the most famous agent is used for these processes has a narrow therapeutic window-transmitting from mild sedation to deep general anesthesia rapidly.
